Word for Today....The String on Your Finger
Scripture: For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:3
Have you ever had an appointment or something that you needed to remember to do? When I was younger, before anyone ever thought that you could have a handheld office assistant, people would tie a string around their finger to remind them that something important needed to be done. It was a reminder to them, so that when they looked at the string it would trigger a memory of something important.
We have been given an appointment with God and the vision and promises that He has placed in us. Many of our promises have yet to see come to pass and our appointments seem a long way off. Along the way we may have forgotten what God told us about us or the devil may have told us that it won’t happen for us or through us. It may seem like the vision, appointments or promises will never come and your season of waiting is long. HAVE YOU WRITTEN THE PROMISES DOWN? If so, go back and remind yourself what God has said to you. If not, what do you have that will remind you of what God has shown and/or told you?
John, the revelator, had a vision of the New Jerusalem, he was ordered to write it. He wrote it not only for himself, but for those who would come after him so they could see what God had promised. Now it is up to us to wait for the accomplishment of the vision. "The vision is yet for an appointed time". The bible says there is a time and season for everything under the sun and that includes our visions, our appointments and our promises. But we must hold fast to the profession of our faith, without wavering or doubting. There is an appointed or fixed time, and although the vision is delayed it hasn't been denied and it will SURELY come.
God has an appointed time, and He will be sure to do the work when the time comes. He is well able to complete the work that He has started and bring to manifestation the vision/promise that He has given. We don’t always understand God’s timing and neither can we determine His appointments, but it is our job to wait for the promise. David said to wait on the Lord and be of good courage. It takes great strength and encouragement to wait with patience, that, though the promise be deferred long, it will come at last. And not only will the vision come and not tarry, but will bring an abundant recompense, or bonus reward, to us for our waiting patiently. It is like waiting for your refund check from the IRS and after weeks of waiting you received the check; however, the amount of the check is more than you had anticipated? That is what God does for us. He will give us a bonus just for waiting patiently. The bible says that God is not slack concerning his promises, as some men count slackness. If He said it, he will surely do it and if he spoke, or showed, it to you he will make it good.Have a Blessed Day!
