Word for Today....Protected by Peace
Scripture: Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with thy child? And she answered, It is well. II Kings 4:26
IT IS WELL............
The Shunammite woman had been promised and given a son by God. However, there came a day that her promised son was sick and later died in her arms. She laid her son in the room that she had built for the Prophet Elisha and set out to find the Man of God. She met the prophet’s servant and when asked if everything was well with her husband, herself and her son, she answered IT IS WELL!! So in thinking about the situation of this woman, the first thing that came to mind is - How could it be well when death was at home? How could she say things were well when what she loved was in jeopardy? It is because the word “well” is more than a statement; it is a state of mind and a place of assurance. The word "Well" in Hebrew means "SHALOM" or in other words, PEACE. So when you are in a place of peace, no matter the situation or circumstance - IT IS WELL!
We have to go to the place where God first told us about our promise. The Shunammite woman laid her son in the room where the man of God first gave her the Word concerning her promise. The place where she knew God had been. She took him to the place where God had given a declaration of what was to be done in her life. Upon her leaving home, she told her husband that it SHALL be well. In other words, she was telling her husband that she would return and peace would be with her. She was protected by peace. There are those times that we must say, "it SHALL be well" which tells the devil "you may have hit me hard but once I meet up with peace, I am coming back with a vengeance". I may not understand what is going on right now in my mind, my spirit or my life, but WAIT, it isn’t over! The devil STILL won’t get any glory out of this. Yeah, it seems hopeless right now. It seems that things are at their worse because my situation seems sick and afflicted. (Her son first got very sick) Then the devil takes it a step further and your promise dies. But if God has to call your situation from the dead like Jesus called Lazarus, that is what He will and can do. So even though the devil tries to mess with your promise and tries to turn your promise into a mess and a lie, remember that God is not a man and He CANNOT lie! So if He said it, He will do it and if He spoke it, He will make it good!
The Shunammite woman didn't care that her son was at home dead. She had a “body guard” called peace that guarded her mind, her heart, her body and spirit. Everything that concerned her was at peace and when God gives you peace, the devil can't take it away. Jesus told his disciples, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be trouble, neither let it be afraid." WHY? Because He knew that they were going to face some really hard times and that if peace wasn’t allow to guard them, they would be stressed out, upset and begin to doubt. But when we allow peace to guard our minds, our hearts and our spirits, it will help us through those hard and seemingly lonely times. God has peace that goes beyond our understanding. The world's system says that you can only have peace as long as everything is calm, but when problems or storms come there can’t be peace. But God's system is not like the world, because even in the middle of the storm, Jesus stepped out and said, “peace be still” and immediately calmed the raging storm. He said that He would KEEP them in PERFECT peace whose mind is stayed (fixed, settled, fastened) on Him. We can remain in peace even when things around us AREN'T peaceful because we are protected by Peace.Be Blessed!
